Hard drive price per TB calculator
Enter any hard drive or SSD price and capacity. You get the price per terabyte and how it compares with today's typical Amazon price for the same drive type, size, and condition.
How the calculator works
How do you calculate price per TB?
Price per TB is the price divided by the capacity in terabytes. A $100 drive that holds 4TB costs $25 per TB. For a multi-pack, use the total price and the total capacity of all drives in the pack.
What does typical price per TB mean here?
The typical price is the median price per TB of the Amazon offers we track today for the same drive type and condition at a similar size. When too few offers match that size, the comparison widens to half-to-double the size, then to all sizes, and the result says which group it used.
Why compare against drives of a similar size?
Price per TB changes with capacity. Mid-size hard drives usually cost the least per TB, while the smallest and the newest, largest sizes cost more. Comparing a 4TB drive with a 24TB drive would make one of them look like a bad deal when it is not.
Is the lowest price per TB always the best buy?
No. Check the recording method (CMR or SMR) for NAS and RAID use, the warranty length, and whether the drive is new, renewed, or used. A cheap drive with a short warranty can cost more over its life than a slightly dearer one.
